Chapter 1-
What Walked in the Door
William
slept peacefully, dreaming of the erratic, gut-churning bus rides to school. The bus driver liked him and sometimes went even faster for the boys enjoyment. William, however,
had no idea what just walked in the door with his step-mother.
Kristine
stepped through the doors knowing the late hour meant Craig was busily prising
fan girls off of him after the game at the nearby stadium. Slowly she knelt
toward the bassinet.
Reaching in carefully, she began a
soft cooing.
She
smiled warmly, if not a little smugly at little Peter, her savior, and went to
place him in a crib.
Kristine
returned a moment later to the front hall.
Again, she knelt toward
the bassinet. Again, she cooed and smiled.
She
picked up the tiny Bernadette promising herself that her daughter would never
need to be sold to feed her family. She walked slowly, placing Bernadette in a
crib near Peter’s.
A little more
urgently this time, she returned to the bassinet in the hall.
Little
Helen had a bit more fire in her than the other two. She was fretting and
wanting to be fed.
After
feeding Helen, Kristine looked around. The house had never looked so good to
her as it did now. Now she just had to ensure that her children would be able
to take care of her. William was old enough to fend for himself.

Sunshyne's note to Shakespeare- Craig is supposed to be a serial monogamist. He was going to
have 3 wives, consecutively, and was supposed to have a total of three kids.
There are ways to increase fertility in the Sims world. Your sim can listen
to/watch the kids station on the radio/tv. Or your sim can buy a lifetime
reward called “fertility treatment.” In normal gameplay, the chance of twins
randomly appearing is 2%. The chance of triplets is so low it rarely registers. I didn’t even bother to check Kristine (Whom I hated with a
PASSION) when she was preggers because she didn’t listen to or watch the kids
station and neither her nor Craig had the Fertility Treatment. Additionally, I
really didn’t care the gender of the next child and enjoy the surprise. So when
“It’s a girl! Name:” popped up I typed in Bernadette without hesitation and
prepared to go on. To say I was a little disappointed when that was followed by
“It’s a boy! Name:” might be an understatement. I really wanted the 3 kids to
be by 3 different women as a kind of a nod to Jackson. Then… “It’s a girl!
Name:” popped up again and I wanted to cry. I have never had the random
triplets chance hit. I was floored. Keeping the family running with the 3
babies was a nightmare. Never again will I not check a pregnant sim to make
sure I’m not getting THAT kind of a surprise. Ey-Yi-Yi.
