Chapter 21-Disturbing

Chapter 21- Disturbing
Also known as Chapter 20 Part 2, ‘cause I don’t want a 21 chapter prologue dammit! That’s just ridiculous!
Dedicated to Shakespeare. You inspire me every day. I so hope this makes more sense for you now, love. I’ve enjoyed the journey. -Sunshyne

William waits outside. He’s willing to be patient. He’s been lonely lately and thinks the call he received earlier could lead to a friend. He needs one right about now.
William shifts his weight from one foot to the other nervously.
“What is taking so long?” he thinks to himself.
In a nearby house, a baby cries. William wrinkles his nose, glad there are no neighbors so near he can hear what is going on inside where he lives.

“William,” Lily Pad greets him. “I’m so glad you could come over tonight. Won’t you come in?”

William studies the drab interior impassively. Velma and Dedrick helped Lily Pad buy this small, shabby house after deciding they couldn’t live with her any longer.
Behind him, Lily Pad is studying him. She’s read the tabloids and witnessed herself just how well William coped with the death of his father. She also knows that he’s been sober, to a degree, lately. Hoping that he hasn’t had too much to drink already she taps him on the shoulder.

William turns to her abruptly, fire in his voice.
“I run the town now,” he tells her. “I own it, I run it, I make the decisions. Who lives here, who doesn’t. I abolished the board because they thought I was nuts and wouldn’t let me do what I needed. I’ll rebuild it eventually.”
Lily Pad is familiar with the disturbing social news lately. The whole town is up in arms and even Sim Nation has turned its attention to the community. It isn’t good when you alert the big dogs.

“I think most of the town is worried you won’t let it go to a vote,” Lily Pad tries to keep her voice calm and gentle. It won’t do to scare him off so easily. She has far bigger things to discuss with him. “They just want to choose who is on the board for a change, have a say in the matter. No one wants to take your position of authority away from you. It’s in your blood.”
William relaxed almost immediately. He knew he had found someone he could talk to, who knew what it was like. It was hard for him. He had expected most of the town to embrace the changes immediately. Now he felt he needed to give them time to adjust.
“Your blood matters a lot to me William,” Lily Pad finished. She was unsure he had heard everything she had just said but lately it was normal for him to kind of zone out.

“You were always good at saying the right things Lily,” William murmured.
“Thanks,” she smiled back. “Will you come back here with me? I have something to show you.”
She was being soft and gentle and no one had yet to make a man of William yet. Maybe this would be the best option. Then he could go and try to get Heather back with a little bit of experience under his belt.
“Sure thing,” he told her. “Lead the way.”

Lily Pad walked into her tiny bedroom. William’s mind was racing, he hadn't had much to drink today. In fact, he'd only had a single shot. And as soon as he started thinking about experience, strange things flashed in front of him. A whirl of colors, sounds and scenes that were blurred and unfocused-

“My Dad died! Grim came and took him! I have no idea why he was trying to fiddle with the stereo in the first place. He couldn’t fix his hair sometimes, much less something electrical.”

William stared the green sheets on her brass bed before rubbing his eyes with his knuckles.
“Where did that come from?” William wondered to himself. He looked at the green sheets again… Green-

The drink was an acid shade of green. The bartender had promised it was something new she had cooked up this week just for him. It would help him forget his troubles…
The door opened. William turned to look and see who was entering.
                “Surely not.”

“Where are these coming from?” William thinks.
He stands frozen, still staring at the sheets, trying to figure out when he had been in that particular bar. It couldn’t have been recent, and it was just a moment ago he had been nearly nose to nose with Lily Pad… just a moment ago-

“Say it, William,” she giggled. “Not until you say it again.”
                “I love you, Lily Pad.”

He runs his hands up her body, starting at her thighs. His eyes bore deep into hers. They are almost green, but not quite. Just like his hair. Screw dancing. He wants to screw her.

He forces himself back into the present. Wondering where the jumble came from, trying to make sense of it all. William takes a deep breath and blinks hard.
He hears a small mewling noise, which Lily Pad answers with a soft cooing. There’s a baby in the room.
And just like that, colors, sounds, emotions overcome the present as a tangle of forgotten memories surface.

His need is so deep. And here she was. She was always there, right where he needed her. Right when he needed her.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

She went straight to the shuffleboard table without even glancing his way. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her though. She had grown up well.

Why on Sim Planet would he be in the honeymoon suite?
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

William comes back sharply, his eyes growing wider with each new image his mind presents him.
Lily Pad is cooing to the little larva, snuggling it closely.
“No,” William thinks. Then another jumble takes the place of this woman and child tableau.

His hand crawls slowly down her belly, fumbling with the hem of her bikini bottoms.
“Oh, my,” Lily Pad moans into his ear.

“Where are my clothes?” William thinks.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

“Of course it’s hot, honey. I know that’s how you like it. At least, that’s what all those little girls say when you’ve finished with them.”
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

His chest rising and falling rapidly, he moves closer, forcing himself to stay calm. Trying so hard to stay in the present. He has to get to the bottom of this.
Lily Pad gently bounces the gurgling little girl, making her giggle.
William’s focus is fixed on the baby’s eyes. His eyes. His mother’s eyes-

“I need you, Lily Pad,” William sobs into her now very wet shoulder. “I can’t do this alone. I’m so tired of being alone. They’re both gone. Why did my mom have to go so soon? I needed her. Dad was useless.”

“Is the bathroom light on? But no one is in there.”
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

William’s eyes are popping from the rush of new information his brain is trying to piece together.
A rather sinister smile is frozen on his face. His panting is so hard now he can hardly speak. He wonders how she can’t hear the hammering of his heart. Even his fingers show his tension.
“You have a baby.” He says to her. It is a statement, not a question. He just doesn’t know if the father-

William scratches his head in confusion. His Dad is dead. He accidentally electrocuted himself. Now he, William, is naked in the honeymoon suite and the bathroom light is on. He’s still missing something.
Dog like, he shakes his head trying to clear it.

At first he thinks it’s a fly, but no. The high pitched whine isn’t a fly near his ear. It’s singing. And it’s coming from the bathroom.

His head turns sharply toward the bathroom. He knows that voice. He-
                No.

William buries his face in his hands, sobbing wildly.
                “What did I do?”

William forces himself back to the present to see just when Lily Pad gives him her most complacent smile. She is patient and has known William his whole life. She knows what is going through his head.
“Her name is Sadie. Kinda like Sadie Hawkins” Lily Pad tells him. She wants him to calm down a tad first. The manic glint in his eye is not at all reassuring. “You know, that gender bending chick who supposedly chased guys instead of the other way around. And it’s fairly normal, unlike my name. What do you think of it?”

“What does it matter what I think of the name,” William told her. Despite his bugged out eyes and the veins throbbing in his forehead and neck, his tone is flat. “She’s your baby.”
Lily Pad takes a deep breath. She knew she’d end up having to spell it out for him.
“Well,” she says. “Well see, I’m-I’m pretty sure she’s our baby.”

Okay, that’s enough. That is long enough and I’m nowhere NEAR done with this. I tried! So! Now we’ve got a THREE PART CHAPTER!!! And I’m going to have a 22 chapter prologue! *Sob!
What did you think of William’s little flashbacks? He’s been a bad bad sim!
